Board of Directors

The Board of Directors serves as the primary governing body of Mustafa Center. It is responsible for establishing policies, providing strategic direction, and overseeing the overall affairs of the Center to ensure accountability and sustainability.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee manages the day-to-day operations of Mustafa Center under the guidance of the Board of Directors. It implements approved policies, oversees programs and services, and works to meet the needs of the community with professionalism and care.

The Board of Directors provides leadership and direction in advancing the mission of Mustafa Center, ensuring that its programs, services, and initiatives are aligned with the needs of the community. Through thoughtful planning and oversight, the Board works to promote responsible governance, organizational effectiveness, and long-term growth, while supporting the continued development of the Center’s religious, educational, and community services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Policy Development: Establish policies, guidelines, and strategic priorities that guide the operations of the Center
  • Organizational Oversight: Oversee the overall performance and activities of the Center to ensure alignment with its mission and goals
  • Executive Oversight: Supervise and evaluate the performance of the Executive Committee and organizational leadership
  • Decision-Making: Make key decisions on organizational matters, ensuring responsible and informed governance
  • Approval Authority: Review and approve major actions, requests, and initiatives brought forward by the Executive Committee
  • Leadership Appointments: Appoint key leadership positions, including the President, Vice President(s), and other designated roles within the organization

Through its role, the Board of Directors ensures effective governance, accountability, and the continued advancement of Mustafa Center’s mission and services.

Executive Committee

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee serves as the operational leadership body of Mustafa Center, supporting the implementation of the Center’s mission through the effective management of its programs, services, and daily activities. Working under the guidance of the Board of Directors, the Committee ensures that approved policies and initiatives are carried out efficiently and in alignment with the needs of the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Center to ensure smooth and effective functioning
  • Program Implementation: Implement Board-approved programs, services, and initiatives across religious, educational, and community areas
  • Service Coordination: Coordinate activities and services to meet the needs of the community in a timely and organized manner
  • Administrative Oversight: Support and manage administrative functions and volunteer efforts within the Center
  • Policy Execution: Carry out policies and directives established by the Board of Directors
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate communication and engagement with the community to support participation and service delivery

Through its role, the Executive Committee helps ensure that Mustafa Center continues to operate as a welcoming place of worship, service, and community engagement.

The Board of Trustees

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees serves as the senior advisory and oversight body of Mustafa Center, helping to safeguard the Center’s mission, values, and long-term sustainability. The Board consists of seven permanent members of Afghan origin, selected from among the founders and experienced leaders of the Afghan Academy and Mustafa Center whose terms have concluded. Its members bring continuity, wisdom, and institutional knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Stewardship: Safeguard and maintain proper documentation of all Center properties and assets
  • Governance Review: Review and verify key authorizations related to official and financial matters
  • Bylaws Approval: Review and approve proposed amendments to the bylaws as submitted by the Board of Directors
  • Annual Oversight: Conduct reviews of the Center’s assets and provide recommendations as needed
  • Strategic Guidance: Advise the Board of Directors on major matters, including property acquisition and expansion
  • Final Determination: Provide final decisions on matters that remain unresolved at the Board of Directors or Executive Committee level, ensuring timely and well-informed resolution

The Board of Trustees may also be consulted on matters of significant importance, providing independent guidance to support thoughtful and well-informed decisions. Through its role, the Board helps ensure accountability, transparency, and alignment with the long-term vision of Mustafa Center.
